Section I - Football matches
1. I adjust my hearing aid. (See section D on hearing aids.)
2. I concentrate and enjoy the match. I do not try to talk.
3. I stay at home and watch it on the television.
4. I sit near the scoreboard.
5. I ask people what the tannoy says, but usually they don't know either. I ask people who support the same team!
6. As football is such a visual game I find I don’t need to wear my hearing aids at a football match.
Section J - In the park
1. I find a nice bench to sit on and have a chat.
2. I relax and enjoy the environment.
3. I avoid the noisy areas like children' play areas and water fountains, etc.
4. I keep a look out for bicycles and joggers or dogs running around, etc.
5. I avoid areas of the park where there are not many people, such as woods and I don’t take the shortcut as it passes through waste ground where there are places people could hide.
Section K - Activities (out of doors)
1. I really enjoy bowls and tennis. I cannot hear the calls and so I find that it is best to tell people and then they can make allowances. They usually do.
2. I like to go jogging with a friend. We only chat when we’re at a standstill to avoid me running into lampposts, etc.
3. I enjoy canoeing even though I have to take my hearing aids out when on the water, which means I hear very little. I have a system of a few signals which people use to communicate with me whilst we’re out on the water. It works quite well.

Section L - General (Out of doors)
1. I do not find communicating out of doors as much of a problem as some other situations because it does not last too long.
2. I wait until I get into a better situation so that I can talk more easily.
3. I do not worry too much because I know that quite a lot of hearing people find it difficult to follow speech outside.
4. I carry my communication card everywhere I go. I use it to explain how people can help me.
